International Crisis Aid Heartland. [A Feature of a Local Cause]

July 9, 2012 - 10:12 am

I discovered the amazing cause of International Crisis Aid Heartland at a luncheon a few months back. I chose to capture a few images for this organization to highlight the cause and also to feature the bracelets that are a major fundraiser for the organization. Please see the information below to find our more about what ICA is doing in our community and beyond!

“Sex Trafficking is sweeping the globe like a virus that feeds on innocent lives. It is not just a problem in foreign countries…it is right here in AMERICA & right in our own backyards. ICA HEARTLAND is a nonprofit that is fighting this battle head on.

Bring awareness through education about the realities and implications of sexual human trafficking of young women and girls. Generate funds through multiple fundraising and partnerships within our community. Bring forth change for the lives of the innocent who have no voice.

International Crisis Aid HEARTLAND is a partner of International Crisis Aid, a nonprofit relief organization based in St. Louis Missouri. ICA HEARTLAND is committed to help open our first U.S. safe home in St. Louis for AMERICAN GIRLS. We currently have 6 international homes and have rescued dozens of girls, some as young as 4 years old.
● 1.2 million children are being trafficked every year; some young as 4 years old.
● The average victim is forced to have sex up to 40 times a day.
● Almost 300,000 AMERICAN children are being prepared for sexual exploitation.
● The average age for AMERICAN girls are first victims of sex trafficking is 12-14 years old.
● There are girls as young as 5 & 6 years old in the U.S. that are forced to do sexual acts for the
the economic gain of their pimp.
● Every 2 minutes a child is being prepared for sexual exploitation.

It is our mission to bring hope, restoration, and healing to both international and American girls who have been trapped in the growing national epidemic of sexual human trafficking. This page is designed to help bring about that awareness and promote upcoming fund raising events.
